Dear SR2500 & SR3500
Quick Build Customers:
As most of you know there is a
problem with a number of the Quick Build fuel tanks leaking. When we
were first notified of this problem we had hoped that there would be
only a few occurrences; however this has not been the case.
It has become apparent
that very few Quick Build Wings built in the Philippines do not leak.
The Philippine Builder (Wright Aircraft) had ensured us that each tank
had been pressure checked. Obviously this was not true. Leaky tanks
have not been a problem with Quick Built wings
assembled at Murphy Aircraft.
At the present time
thirteen of the Quick Build aircraft from the Philippines are flying
as well as 26 aircraft build from straight kits.
We strongly suggest that
all builders either pressure check or fill the tanks with fuel and let
sit for a few days before installing on the fuselage.
Murphy Aircraft will
supply to all Philippine Quick Build Wing Owners the following
materials to repair their leaking tanks:
-
2 QT Proseal
-
12 Larger Inspection Covers (Part # W1011)
-
550 Tank Rivets
Murphy Aircraft will also be giving
each Quick Build customer affected by the leaking tanks a $500.00
credit in the Parts Department to be used on Murphy Aircraft
Manufactured Parts.
If you have Philippine
Quick Built wings and are experiencing leaking tanks please contact
the shipping department. They will forward the repair kit to you.
Sincerely,
Darryl Murphy
President, Murphy Aircraft Mfg. Ltd.
