The following procedures are provided as a guideline only for our customers with the M-14P radial engine. Murphy Aircraft has equipped their M-14P with a clean kit and oil shut-off valve to help eliminate the oil drippings commonly associated with radial engines.
Intake manifold drain open
Pull propeller thru 2 - 3 rotations for oil cylinder lock
Intake manifold drain closed
Mags off
Master on
Electric fuel pump on
Prime engine for 6 - 7 seconds
Electric fuel pump off
Master off
Pull propeller thru 4 revolutions
Oil valve on, if equipped
Master on
Electric fuel pump on
Prime engine for 3 - 4 seconds
Throttle 1/4" open
Engage shower of sparks / air system to start. Hold on until running
Mags on both when engine firing on shower of sparks
Electric fuel pump off
Check for oil pressure
Oil Pressure: Min Idle - 14 psi
Max Idle - 85 psi
Operating Range - 56 to 85 psiOil Temperature: Min for Takeoff - 100 F
Max - 185 F inlet oil tempFuel Pressure: 3 - 7 psi
CHT Range: Min - 248 F
Max - 464 F
